skater girl

Addie, and her dad, had their first experience on ice skates over the weekend. No injuries to report. I asked Addie if she had fun and she said, "No not really." I think she had visions of pirouettes and double axels on her first try. Who am I to shoot down her dreams?!

perspective

I'm trying to remember this; with 2012 comes some clarity. Don't let others project their junk onto you!

cupcake makers

That's right: blue cupcakes with pink frosting, red M&Ms and sprinkles. What do you do when it's 6 degrees out?

Little Red Store

Feast your eyes on this gem: The Little Red Store, in the Village of Wauwatosa - the new venue for First Tuesdays at Ten.
So, the first Tuesday of every month, she's back: Come and enjoy this space with Ms. Molly. The store is rented for two hours (9:30-11:30) and although storytime itself will start promptly at 10, the space is available for play until 11:30. There will also be a simple (mess free) craft, coffee, snacks, in addition to singing, rhymes, fingerplays, and more.
It is important to note that because the store is a rented space, there is now a fee for adults ($5), but kids will always be free, and there is no limit to how many children you can bring. The money will cover the cost of the store itself and the coffee and treats that will be served. If, at the end of the year, there is a surplus of funds, it will be donated to the Wauwatosa Children's Library. To register, simply click the link to the right. Certainly you can register that day in person, but hopefully the link adds convenience.
So, please join us on February 7th (just three weeks from today) and find out why First Tuesdays at Ten is so special. Make new friends and reconnect with old friends. Make a morning of it and help support the Wauwatosa Historical Society and enjoy the other local businesses in the village. You won't regret that you did. Until we see you in February, happy reading!!

game over

While the grownups were downstairs watching the Packers lose, kiddos were upstairs snuggling and listening to The Polar Express on the Nook. The light was off and there was just a glow of the screen to light up their smiling faces. Pretty darn cute, until they hit puberty.

a tale of two seasons

On Wednesday we played on the park and went for a bike ride and thought about how odd it was to be outdoors with minimal layers in January. We went to bed and woke up to this; same fun, more clothes.

photographer

Santa brought Addie her own camera. She loves to take pictures...a LOT of pictures. Some are good, some are great, and some are misses. Considering her subject in this photo shoot, I can only assume these are filed under great!

First Tuesday at 10

What better way to start the new year than with a Tuesdays at Ten Storytime at the Little Red House with our MOST favorite storyteller, Molly! She brought her favorite turtle, Scooter, and taught us ALL about turtles, how many scutes they have (13 if you didn't know) and how they spend the winter (an adorable little lesson on the felt board). They don't hibernate; rather, they "brumate". With any luck, 2012 will bring more stories with Ms. Molly!

NYE 2011

I like to think that we were operating on GMT, which would mean we made it WAY past midnight. Those who know us well will know the truth.
